The Speakers Platform
We often host events to help business owners, giving them a place to learn & grow.
The Speakers Platform was created for novice speakers who want to improve themselves & follow the path to become professional speakers.
We hosted the first Speakers Platform at Fruitworks Co working in Canterbury, with 30 people in the room, it was a great evening & we were introduced to 8 amazing speakers.
The Speakers Platform was an event for speakers to be seen & be heard, it was also competition for them to test their skills & compete against each other for the chance to be the overall winner.
Each speaker who wanted to compete sent in their entries, which consisted of their picture, bio, a written description of what their talk would contain & a short, self filmed video, with a snippet of their talk.
We had 3 prestigious judges, Paul Andrews CEO of Jobs In Kent & former International Professional Speaker, Amy McManus Founder of AM Marketing, Professional Speaker & winner of the Business woman speaker of the year 2018 & Jane Farnham, Director of The Great British Speakers & former TV Presenter.
They had the hard task of choosing just 4 of the entries to be the finalist, who would present their talks on the evening of the event to the judges & the audience.
The finalists weren't announced until the evening of the event.
On the evening of the event, we arrived to set up & waited to welcome the entrants & the attendees for the evening. It was important to us to provide a comfortable, safe space for everyone so that the finalists felt confident to deliver their talks.
We didn't keep the entrants long & after a short introduction, we announced the four finalists, those who had impressed the judges most with their videos & details.
All of the entrants had come prepared in case they were chosen to be in the final 4 & so we gave the finalist just 15 minutes to collect themselves & prepare to present their talks to us all.
The four finalists Aaron Taylor, Liu Batchelor, Soti Coker & Julie Daniel, did an amazing job in presenting their talks, they weren't perfect, but that was the point, they weren't professional speakers, but they wanted to demonstrate their skills.
After hearing from the finalists the audience voted for their favourites & the 3 judges deliberated. They each had their strengths & their weaknesses but one stood out above the others, because he was clear, engaging, confident & interesting to listen to. The overall winner of the Speakers Platform was Soti Coker.
It was a great event, lots of fun, inspirational & motivational, enjoyed by everyone who took part.
